The PG department of  English presently offers BA Functional English and MA English Language and Literature. The programmes aim  at equipping the learners linguistically competent to meet their personal, professional and academic needs in English at global standards. The Department is keen on providing the learners   with ample exposure to the functional side of different aspects of the English Language-lexical, structural, oral, conversational, and suprasegmental- to help them acquire a commendable level of mastery over all the macro skills of English. With the help of   systematic instruction, deft use of e-contents and incorporation of web tools to instructional practices, the department ensures that each of its students is well armed linguistically to use English in real life or life-like situations with distinct mastery. In addition to this ,the department  takes care to host a number of interactive programs and student-centric activities capable of nurturing and pruning their holistic development like professionalism, personality ,creativity and extensive academic enrichment.

The department has consistently organized many creative and academic activities to give the students enough exposure and extensive practice in many aspects of learning, communication and life skills. Regular visits to Newspaper bureaus/ Media broadcasting Centres to learn the practical sides of mass media, translating Malayalam works of reputed writers to English, publishing a full-fledged English Newspaper and a print magazine, arranging talks of academics at national and international levels and interactive sessions with great scholars and native speakers , hosting national seminars on specific topics and  conducting regular inter-departmental contests make the list pretty long.
