The departments in the college, in addition to the regular programmes, offer short-term courses which are categorized into add-on courses and certificate courses. .The add-on courses primarily aim at sharpening the skills of the learners in the disciplines they major in. These courses are exclusively designed by the departments for their own students with the aim of horning their skills in the discipline concerned. The certificate courses, on the other hand, are meant for students from any departments and are basically meant to prepare them for competitive examinations and better employability skills. All these short-term courses have their own well- stated objectives, modules, and course outcomes which are realized with the help of course work and systematic instruction. Course Objectives:

Course Description:

The department offers a two -month duration Add- on course for its undergraduate and graduate students for developing a creative outlook on copywriting. Over the duration of this course, you will learn the strategies for writing effective ads and to create different types of advertising and marketing copies. This course will also give you the information you need to pursue a career as a copywriter.
The conceptual art of copywriting flows from ideas often created in a team consisting of copywriter and art director. Since a copy is rarely without a design, a copywriter has to possess a visual sense and know how to synthesize complicated information, understand marketing strategies and draw a creative strategy from that.

About the course: 

Latex is a system for typesetting documents. This course provides an introduction to the basics of Latex, help students to prepare different types of documents involving mathematical entities. The course sets a footing for the students to advance into the higher levels of latex as per individual requirements. 

Course Outcome:

By the end of the course a student will learn the basic theory of latex which will help to learn different features of latex themselves. The course will equip the learners to achieve a reasonable mastery in the journalistic writing. In the journalistic writing focusing on News Report preparation, Dialogue writing, Interview taking &writing, Preparation of Articles, 5W & IH principle, Inverted pyramid, Documentary preparation , Translation skills from Malayalam to Urdu and Vice versa.  This course Provides Practical lessons and peer team activities to develop their competencies in the field.  The course will be very useful to those students who wish to work in the field of Print or electronic media.

LIFE SKILL COURSE- (PRAGMATICA)

Introduction :-  Department of Physical education , Government Arts & Science college , Kondotty has designed a life skill course – pragmatica-  for empowering students with practical life skills which shall be quite useful for them in their day to day life in future.  

Course content:-  The course mainly aims on awareness about health and fitness together with life skills like swimming, aerobic exercise, strength training awareness, food & nutrition and yoga awareness. 

Module 1.  Introduction about the course as follows

Session 1- general awareness on health and fitness, aerobic training, strength training 

Session 2- Swimming, food & nutrition and yoga.

Module 2. 

Session 1-  Aerobic exercise- types of aerobic activities , practical demonstration, its importance on cardio respiratory system.  

Session 2-  Strength straining exercise – importance  - demonstration with video- strength straining using own weight – working from home. 

Module 3. 

Session-1 – yoga introduction (theory)-  hatha yoga- asanas

Session -2 – yoga –practical –demonstration and practice

Module -4 - Swimming

Session -1 – theory - Swimming – basic lessons- breathing –breath holding,  movement of arm –position of body-head down – free style and other strokes

Session 2-  Practical session at pool/river-  individual training with basic free style movement- hand and leg movement .

Duration : -  The course has four modules of two sessions each which usually conducts on Saturday afternoons preferably 3 30 pm to 5 30 pm. The course shall finish by four weeks and certificate shall be given upon successful completion of course. 

Conduct of course :  For the academic year 2016-17 , Department of Physical Education commenced the course on  6th of August 2016 for the next four Saturdays .

Target Learners: Students of Physical Education open course and other interested students from various departments were part of the life skill course.
